Day 2 at Borrego Springs

Thursday March 8th.

We got up around 7am this morning.  Took showers and I made breakfast.  We then headed for the state park.  When we got to the park we paid and then went to the parking lot.  We left the truck about 8:30 and headed for the Palm canyon oasis.  It took about an hour to walk there.  We took a lot of pictures on our way up.    We saw a lot of neat things.  About half way up there was a big stream in the middle of the walk.  It just comes out of the top of the mountain and disappears  before it gets to the bottom of the hill.  It was very cool to see.  I filled an empty water bottle from a water fall at the top and it was very clear and had no taste.  Pure water doesn't have any flavor.  It was very good.  Stayed up there about 30 min. and then headed back down.
We took an alternative route back down.  It was harder going down then it was going up.  We made it and all was well.  We then headed back towards the RV park.  Jo was driving and took a detour looking for some more metal sculptures.  We didn't find any.  So we headed for the park.  We got back to the park about noon.  I relaxed and she went for a walk around the park.  When she came back we got ready for the golf game we signed up for.  It is called Nine and Wine.  It is a four person scramble.  We were paired with another couple who were staying in the park.  He hit his drives really well.  His wife just started playing this year.  We did come in third.  Both couples got a bottle of wine.  We were 1 under for nine.  The wining score was 3 under.  Jo was happy.  We then came back to the coach and I relaxed some more.  Jo went to the store and bought some things for dinner.  She cooked chicken and we had chicken salads for dinner.  We are relaxing and watching the news.  That is about all for now.  More tomorrow.

First Stop - Borrego Springs, CA

Hello everyone.

This is the first time I have done a blog.  It will really be a log of Jolene's and my travels anytime we leave Havasu.

This is how it started this morning (March 7, 2012).  First the coach wouldn't start, even the battery boost wouldn't help.  So I hooked up the battery charger and plugged the coach back in so we could charge the house batteries also.  After we got the coach started, I backed out and hooked the truck up and away we went.

First we headed for Parker and had breakfast.  I think it is called Crossroads.  Very good food.  Then we headed for Borrego Springs, Ca.  It was a nice ride until we got about 80 miles out of Indio.  We ran into a big wind and dust storm.  It lasted about 15 miles or so.  We finally made it to our turn off and headed for the Salton Sea.  After about 30 miles we headed for Borrego Springs.  The first 5 miles were very rough and the road was wavy.  So we traveled at about 20-25 miles an hour and then it got a little better.  We got to travel at normal speed.

We arrived at The Springs RV Resort at Borrego.  It has a 9 hole golf course attached.  We are going to play it tomorrow.  We then took a ride into town and found the State Park at the west end of town.  We are going back tomorrow and take a hike to the Palm Canyon. We were told about some metal art that was all around town.  We went and found some and took some pictures and did a little geocashing.  After that we signed up for a nine hole game of golf.  It is called Nine and Wine.  So I guess I will have a little wine tomorrow.  Not much of a wine drinker but you never know what you might like. Any how we have settled in for the night.  Had dinner on board and now just relaxing.  That is all for now.  Will up date more tomorrow.
